Simple question for the gurus that understand coding, xdf, tables, what triggers certain codes, blah, blah, blah
How in THEEEEEE FUCKKKKKKK 😡😡😡 does a code change description ?????
Asked MHD, they said tune related , ask your tuner . WTF
However , tune was never changed so why would I ask my tuner ? Anyways, I hit up the Dr. to retune my car to squeeze a little more out of it. So now its a whole different tuner and tune all together and still same issue. Harmless shadow bs code, but thats not the point. WTF caused it to change?? What triggers it ? A few others are experiencing the same thing now. Main question is, how did it change description on the same tune ?????

Oh, and for shits and giggles and since I love flushing money down the toilet, I put in a new crankshaft sensor. Changed NOTHING. 10 min swap, 105.00 for the part, and 20.00 tip for my boy who got me the part. So for anyone else that has this code with the "new" description, save the 100.00+ cuz most likely there is nothing wrong with your sensor. You're welcome.

Too late! :tearsofjoy:Same problem and I’ve ordered and received as well the crankshaft sensor. Got the code since the V8.1 update.

Damn, I tried ! Just shitty that MHD wants to blame tunes or something wrong with the car when its THEIR app thats giving the descriptions on given codes !!!

It’s also my understanding that the 2FDA and 2FDB codes are HPFP related. I recall somewhere here on Spoolstreet @matreyia says to replace the LPFP and HPFP sensors in connection with these codes. I have the parts, just haven’t installed them yet, but probably will need to do so soon as I got a half engine light yesterday with another HPFP code showing up.

We discussed briefly on the Super Knock thread, you and I are in the same boat.

Just curious if you have a long crank, or if you find the rpm dipping down to around 500 rpm when coming to a stop or a really slow turn.

Idle is perfect, car fires right up! Zero stumbling, and Im full E85. No issues slowing down, turning, etc.
As I said, these have always been shadow codes for fuel pump.

When you check the code on bmwfault.codes.com you will see the same description. I think it’s part for

different ECU models?

Hmmm...I plan to do the hpfp in the near future, mainly because my tuner called out fuel issue in logs and the long crank, etc I mentioned earlier. Not sure if I mentioned earlier on the other thread but I'm running a 525 lpfp + EOS ekp so I don't think the lack of fuel is from that end.

2FDA AND 2FDB Have always been a common shadow code for fuel pump in tuned cars. Now, crank sensor 🤔 So anyone getting these, save your money, its NOT crank sensor. Crank sensor is a whole different code. Hope this helps someone .View attachment 34239

Had those shadow codes after Pure High flow upgrade install, replaced sensor... meh as you say did nothing.

Maybe just a dying hpfp.

The description is just what the MHD app has listed for that fault for that engine, not what the actual DME is saying that code means. So as said, MHD is getting this code number mixed with the description from a different car/engine. Same as what happens sometimes with certain DMTL codes, on Carly for BMW it said it was a cylinder 8 or something misfire when it is in reality a DMTL code(because of course our 6cyl doesn't have 8 cylinders). Just use what you know from previous experience, that it is a fuel pump code that usually is insignificant unless your car is actually having fueling issues.
