@Stokes Please report if you're successful in getting the 1M DSC bin flashed to the non-M/non-1 unit, I haven't had time/energy to try yet. Thanks.

I somehow bricked my dme yesterday morning doing a mhd flash (assuming battery issue) . Tried many things, tools. It turns on the lpfp and drains the battery down to 11 even with a 15 Amp charger on it.

Have a backup going in now and it isn't eating power. Anyone have a contact to bench reset a dme? Mevd17.

Man, I have to buy another mhd license don't I? For the backup DME.

U should b ok. It reads out of the cas too. So as long as it it installed and married to the cas u should b good. It happens all the time with msd80 upgrade to msd81. Good luck.

That sucks. Might contact Jake and see if he knows anyone and/or if he can transfer the license if needed. The MEVD17 MHD doesn't have a retry attempt or it's not doing anything? If something messes up on MSD8x flash, it can recover on the next attempt, but also still runs the pump until another flash is started and disables it.

Usually if there is a battery issue, MHD usually lets me retry a short update or a long update if things go a bit wrong. Something went really sideways this time. I learned my lesson this time on doing a pit stop flash on the side of the road. It's so bad that WinFPK (expert mode) or ISTA-D (ECU tests) can't get anything back from it. And the LPFP stays running as soon as the key is on, running the battery down even with a 15 amp charger on it. I'm hopeful I can find someone to quickly virgin it.

I put the used DME/CAS in and did a system check and I could reach all the modules. I started changing the VIN in the DSC and FRM before I had to stop for the day. Since it all looks good, I'll probably go ahead and flash the DSC, since I have to sync it with the DME anyway.

Guess I'll have to plug the JB4 back in until I figure out next steps.

I'm from Texas, so I have a truck. lol But the test & tune breaks in the middle of the day were a mental break during this "do everything from home" time we are in, so I look forward to getting back to them.

At least you got a replacement quick. I'm not sure what else is on that we can't hear after the failed flashes, but 20 or 30A (can't remember which) on mine keeps the voltage stable/slow increase when it happens.

I lived in TX 20 years and never bought a truck, but there were more than few occasions I wish I had one.

Good luck with the DSC, hope it's all downhill from here...

I'm not sure if it'll help your situation but you can pull the fuse for the lpfp and that'll at least stop the battery drain. I thought MHD had bypassed this issue a while ago.

It took me while to find the right fuse (see it actually) since the fuse panel is back behind the glove box. When testing different options of reaching the DME I had pulled the fuse (#70 for me).

MHD responded with info to help me try and figure out what state the DME is in. They told me the process is to disable the epk (pump module) when flashing, but if the DME is not responsive, then it can't disable it.

I picked up a spare 2 years ago when I lost half the (2x 6v) relay circuit on the CAS and push to start wouldn't start. Swapped the dme/Cas pair in to verify. An old fashion squeeze trigger worked for a long time until I could get a dealer to JUST order the CAS.

During that time I had all kinds of DME ghosts. Ends up the single ground cable from the engine to frame corroded and I had about a 3.4v voltage drop that caused battery charging and other electronic gremlin hell. Got the ground cable replaced, then the Cas. All of a sudden with the new Cas no more dme weirdness. Maybe that all caused extra load on the DME circuits and it just gave up the spirits now? No telling.

LOL. Guess I'm better off having my VIN written to the replacement dme/Cas units. Versus trying to wipe my OE DME.

Maybe. If the voltage/current was flying all over the place, might've put odd loads on something/everything. If the replacement is in/working, probably less work just to make it a permanent swap, then you can take your time finding someone to wipe/clone the old to keep as a back up.

No success on 1M ZB and non-M DSC unit. It said the ZB was for dscm80 and mine is dsc90. Tried one from dscm90 and same error. Didn't dare to to try expert mode and force it. Because I just got a fully running car now, minus a dead key fob. Time to see how to add my OE fob to the Cas. Fun times.

That's what I was afraid of :( 1M has it's own standalone files and specific P/N. The problem is, 1M DSC is stupid expensive. Could pretty much do the whole swap with the M3 driveline for less than the price of a new one. I think they were $2500-2800 complete and $1500-1800 just for the control unit last time I looked.

Thanks for the info!

Is there an electronic module repair kit for it? I remember someone mentioned that might be something to look into. What happens if I swap my m3 dsc unit control module over? Wonder if I'll burn up something else? Or if the 1m will flash to the m3 dsc?

There is a repair kit, but don't remember if it was discontinued or what it includes. My first thought was 1M controller on a 335is hydro, but I'm not sure if the servo count/alignment match and it would still be expensive. I'm not sure if the alignment between M3 controller and non-M hydro are the same either. Not sure anything would burn up, but always some risk mixing parts.

Coding wise, 1M and M3 have very similar address layouts, so might be to code the 1M params on an M3 DSC, but why bother at that point. The non-M DSC coding is a just a fraction the size of 1M/M3 params. The 1M DSC is a single HW number all by itself, so I'm not sure you'd be able to flash the 1M ZB to the M3 unit either, but if you could, that would be great because they're a dime a dozen by comparison.

ah, just a couple simple easy peasy little things... eh? :D :D

Glad to see it! You've been through hell getting that going.
Now just lil things here an there.
- DSC OFF led does not turn on. 🤔
- Power button fors not do anything even connected to pin 12 on dme
- my trunk does not open anymore with the fob or the trunk button electronically.
- my rear windows inop.
- And a few codes i need to work thru.
- drive the car for about 500 miles to adapt the tranny right. (I will check tranny and diff fluid level tomorrow)

So youve completed the conversion ? What final drive do you have and do you have any issues with shifts beyond third gear being affected ? Ie Does the engine rpm float around and stabilise slowly after shifting 3rd to 4th gear ?
It s the same message i had when trying to do it on a non dsc with m3dsc zb. But u can do it on expert mode. You should b good to do it.

will try my luck in this thread

Ive done with 95% of the Electric Part of Convertation:

GWS
EDC/Power button
Drivelogic Button
M3 SZL
M3 Steering with Paddels & MuFu
M3 Combi
M3 DSC MK60

Wiring is Done, Wires to MK60 and to MSD81 are installed.

flashed the M3 GTS Software
flashed the 1er M Software (IKM0S)
Coded the VO for M Drive and M DCT
Coded the M3DSC, Kombi, CIC, MSD81 and GWS

i thing all is installed except theM3 DSC Sensors, are they necessary?

so ive flashed back to INA0s because someone said its not necessary and MDM or Power not work.

My Problem now, Paddels dont work, Clutch is slipping.

did i have change the Hardware back (M3 DSC and M3 SZL) to OEM??

i dont install the LSD Parts because its now working yet, so before i will spend money or i borrow it from other car i want to know if this swap work or not. so if it does not work i will swap back and sell all the parts.

Edit: LC not working 2

Thank you

I will stick with 1M bin. All works good that route.
Can u post ur error codes?
What yr is ur car?
On problem i have is teaching adaptatins to my car bcz i can t shutoff the car and stay in N. Not sure what i did and mess that up. It was doing it before but i also had issues with P at the time. Now is just no way to stay in N with engine off. There i ask for help.
As for u.. post codes i can try to share my experience as i just went thru the swap .. i am running 93 tune and no slippagbe anymore.. but i did swap to 3.08 ratio with lsd
