Anyone runnin port e85?

Since e85 is hard to get here.. is anyone running port e85 on 93+meth? That would make sense somewhere where e85 aint easy to get 🤔

a) e85 no go. So just port injected meth +93
b) port injection of 85 , via a sepparate small fuel cell (to fill with race E85 from a container you may buy online, since no pump) + meth setup(assume single jet in charge pipe)

Seems sort of strange but it could be done. I think you would have to ensure E content was consistent. Then you would have to convince your tuner to tune for it.

yeah, just do methanol, no reason to make it even more complicated if e is hard to get

I haven't heard of this being done before. The e85 being injected would help raise the octane slightly but wouldn't provide better benefits than methanol or nitrous injection from my understanding.

Maybe it was done for fun, or just for Science but I can't imagine any real gains. I mean, other then better fuel economy when not on the boost.

I can see this making sense if you have no or very little E85 available. As long as you are not WOT you don't inject any E85. So you don't burn a ~1/4 tank on a refill trip like I would have to.

Then you need another pump + fuel line(s) + fuel cell + etc. as shown above. I would consider this but I can't see the cost and hassle being worth it for me. DP Meth being simpler and more cost effective up to probably say 700whp.

That would be exactly why I was looking into it. I'm already spraying meth.

then spray more, with a properly controlled DP set up like aquamist. whether port injection e85 or direct port meth both systems are agriculturally controlled on the n54 platform, better off have one less system that provides more octane / cooling with less impact on total fuel being supplied by the DI.

i dont see it making any sense at all to actively seek out three fuel systems.... best case outcome is guaranteed headaches. sorry to be a debbie downer.

Well, I have used some form of methanol injection for the past 10 years on this platform. Aquamist then switching to an AEM kit a few years ago on another build. I also hooked up methanol to a Fuel-IT PI kit with an AIC controller for testing, but didn't have good luck with fueling the PI with a methanol pump. I was an early adopter of ProMETH port methanol injection with 7th injector on CP. Actually went through 3 versions and finally decided I wanted better control, less overrun from manifold vacuum levels that were too high for the check valves to include the inline solenoid. So I picked up a NX SAFE tank with pump / regulator for testing. I was able to run 92 octane pump gas and spray e85 on demand. Unfortunately the tank was too small and after six 60-130 pulls the tank was almost empty.

I have a @PRECISION RACEWORKS stock location manifold with Bosch 550cc injectors using an AIC1 controller and a 4 psi HOBB switch to turn the pump on. I also run a ProMETH 3 gal tank / pump using an AEM 30-3305 controller to spray 600cc of methanol on CP for additional IAT control. Because this combo worked so well with the NX SAFE tank, I upgraded to a 5 gal fuel cell from Summit Racing, a fuel pressure regulator, inline 10 micron filter, and 255 LPH inline fuel pump. So, I can fill up at any gas station and with 3 gal of meth and 5 gal of e98 on demand, I can go for weeks without topping them off.

Before anyone gets there panties in a bunch over the fact I run 15 degrees of timing at 25 psi at almost 7500 rpm, the engine is built and I also put 32 oz of Boostane Professional in the gas to help prevent knock. I'm running e98 on port and I'm running a very high duty cycle with the AIC controller to ensure there is adequate fuel.
